Preparations have begun for the arrival into Melbourne of the seriously suave and wonderfully funny Alec Baldwin, as he is named the face of La Dolce Italia 2016.

The recipient of the 2014 Friend of Italy Award and a self confessed Italophile, Mr. Baldwin will be kicking off the La Dolce Italia festival in February 2016 as guest of honour at several key festival events including the La Dolce Italia Charity Gala. In its second year, the Gala is being held to support Bully Zero – a national charity committed to establishing a zero-tolerance culture of bullying in Australia.

Mr. Baldwin says he is excited to experience the world’s most liveable city and share his love of Italian culture for such a wonderful cause.

“It’s exciting to be coming to Australia for the first time where there is such a rich Italian culture. I suppose you could call me an Italophile because I’m so passionate about what Italian culture is about. The wonderful food, wine, music and art is a celebration of life, love and family,” he says.

As a father, Mr. Baldwin also says that coming to Australia to support the protection of children is extremely important to him.

Eventcepts Director Connie Paglianiti says Mr. Baldwin, who starred in Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love, is the perfect face for La Dolce Italia 2016.

“Italy has recognised Mr. Baldwin as a friend of the country and he has long been an advocate for Italian culture, so he is a natural fit for the La Dolce Italia festival,” she says.

The 2016 La Dolce Italia event will run over the period of February 26 to 28, where Mr. Baldwin will attend a press conference, VIP dinner, and the La Dolce Italia Charity Gala. As a special addition to his two-day visit, some will also have the opportunity of “a meet and greet” with Mr. Baldwin at a private pre-gala event.

Alec Baldwin will appear at the La Dolce Italia media conference and Gala Ball will be held at Crown Casino in Melbourne on 26 & 27 February 2015.
