In 2015 So Frenchy So Chic In The Park returns, bringing the charm of provincial France and the attitude of Paris to a perfect summer’s day in Melbourne and Sydney. Last year So Frenchy brought the music, food, wine and style of France to the stately lawns and gardens of Werribee Park Mansion, just outside Melbourne, for the third year in a row, as well as for the first time to Sydney at the beautiful grounds St John’s College in Camperdown. Now a firm fixture on both city’s cultural calendars, on Sunday 11th January 2015, So Frenchy returns to Werribee Park Mansion, followed by St John’s College on Saturday 17 January, presented in association with Sydney Festival. Two cities, four acts, hundreds of gourmet hampers, thousands of bottles and millions of bubbles. Mark your diaries for the ultimate picnic with a soundtrack to match.

LA MUSIQUE

Here’s who is doing the serenading and seducing in 2015.Triple J once had Emilie Simon on repeat, and it’s not hard to see why. Simon is revered for her charismatic stage presence, and her intricate layering of

live vocals and instrumentals with her own unique voice. Simon returns to our shores for a third time this summer with songs from her wildly imaginative latest album, Mue. You won’t be able to take your eyes off her.

Another Frenchy act who has enjoyed regular radio airplay in Australia is The Dø, a French/Finnish duo who first toured here in 2009 with their off-kilter indie sound bewitching everyone at the Australian V Festival. Call it electro-folk or call it avant-pop, The Do will have everyone up and dancing on the grass. peaking of which, La Femme are just as universally engaging and undeniably energetic, brilliantly weaving together sounds of Californian surf rock with classic 60s yeye and 80s new wave. The result is French pop magic that hits all the right notes. Rounding out the So Frenchy coterie is Francois and Atlas Mountains. They recently stole the show as Franz Ferdinand’s opening act at Somerset House in London and now take centre stage. Combining intense percussion, soaring melody and unexpected moments of euphoria, this acclaimed group is a favourite of European festivals.

LE MENU

So Frenchy is known for its great taste in music. Speaking of great taste…Once again gourmet hampers and curated picnic boxes will be bursting with authentic French fare, such as tart tartin, provencal pork belly terrine,

delicious baguettes and delectable tortes. For those who like to create their own degustation menu, simply browse the gourmet food stalls for oysters, crêpes, cassoulet, macaroons, ice cream and more.

And what garden party would be complete without champagne? The finest from Laurent Perrier will be chilled and flowing all day, as will French wines, beers and a cocktail bar.
