InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto is delighted to announce its schedule of activities for the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, including the launch of its Sounds of Spring Racing musical series of after parties.

 

Set in the luxurious Market Lane Bar at the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, the series of music performances is designed to showcase the best of Melbourne’s emerging musicians and artists, while offering a lavish after-party destination for race-goers and the public on key race days.

The series will kick off with Caulfield Cup on Saturday 18 October, where talented musicians and artists from Melbourne’s leading entertainment and creative industries college JMC Academy, will serenade guests into the night with an assortment of indie-pop, acoustic and soul.

 

Market Lane Bar offers an expansive wine, whisky and cocktail menu, as well as a range of gourmet bar food from potted duck rillettes with brioche to natural Coffin Bay oysters, available for guests to purchase and indulge in throughout the night.

Chris Pickering, Melbourne based singer songwriter and Head of Contemporary Music and Performance at JMC Academy, said, “Sounds of Spring Racing is a chance for Melbourne’s top emerging artists to showcase their talents during a carnival of Melbourne’s best racing, style and entertainment.

 

“Tailoring their musical styles to suit the unique themes of each race day, the musicians and artists will help to create a memorable after-party event for all race-goers and Melbournians alike.”
The five-star hotel will also deliver a range of race-themed activities to entertain and pamper guests in style during the Carnival, including a partnership with premium hair salon Rakis on Collins which will offer in-house salon service for race-goers on the mornings before Derby Day and Melbourne Cup.

 

In addition, G.H. Mumm will build a decadent Champagne tower in the lobby area, allowing visitors and guests to celebrate Melbourne’s week of glamour, fashion and racing in luxury. The hotel will also curate three life size art horses to inject an artistic expression of glamour throughout the property.

Sounds of Spring Racing is a free event open to the public, and will be held from 6pm – 9pm on Saturday 18 October for Caulfield Cup, Saturday 25 October for Cox Plate, Saturday 1 November for Derby Day, Tuesday 4th November for Melbourne Cup, Thursday 6 November for Oaks Day and Saturday 8 November for Stakes Day.
